Why is tobacco too common in Pakistan?

There are 30 million tobacco consumers in Pakistan. Every age and social background is ending up to 615 billion every year and 1.6 pc of GDP in health and economy.

Massive smoking habits lead to 8.3 percent of overall health expenditure.

TO minimize and reduce this one, WHO has introduced the massive tax policy of around 70 percent of the retail price of the cigarette pack.

But in Pakistan, companies are introducing lower prices and still earning handsome profits.

However, the Pakistan government needs to introduce strict policies to control such massive smokers and health burdens.

The government is moving in the opposite direction, as recently, the government has removed the tobacco cell and terminated its services set up in 2007. It is clearly showing that policymakers have more sympathies for the tobacco companies than the citizens’ health.

We have to follow the international guidelines to control this horror fact!
